I bought the G30SF when my G30Gen4 developed a mag and mag catch problem. On my Gen4, I've had two mag catches and springs replaced due to excessive wear of the catch and the notches in the mags. Mags would fall out upon firing the gun. It's a 36 slide on a 30SF frame so it's the thinner 36 slide that drops the 4oz in weight, not the frame since the frames are the same. So yes it is lighter, but for me I'm not going to rush out and sell my Gen4 30 to buy a 30S, it's not that big of a deal to me.
