You can imagine how it would go. 3. hyperbeam plasma. hyperbeam destroys your focus, but plasma is immune to reduced focus. so you can avoid picking up cards that channel orbs and go for other stuff like aoe spells, meteor, stuff that channels plasma, ect. thus you end up being plasma oriented and the draw back of hyperbeam is removed.It does make sense since Slay the Spire is a a game where you constantly have to adapt to different relic combinations , paths, and cards offered so guides and tier lists aren't really a great way to look or think about Slay …

Generally speaking, large decks are better than small decks vs the Heart due to the many statuses it throws into the draw pile and it allows you to bring more powers into the deck. My winning decks are at 30-42 with defect. Otherwise, there are many borken options that might be available.

Easiest strategy to make a semi-workable deck with Defect is Lightning. Collect cards that let you channel lightning, increase focus, and stuff that stacks defense quickly (leap is a good bread and butter card). There are lots of cards that synergize specifically with lightning, and all to great effect.
