Some skills can deal 5k+ damage lol. For humans, some good skills to use are Spinning crab, Eagle and Raging Wolf. If you got secret skill from Shibata even better. If you encounter Saito with hatchets, well… pray 😄. He literally nullifies 99% of your weapons skills and turns them against you.

If you want to try a faster weapon, my favorite for those is the Kusarigama, and for heavier weapons both Odachi and the Axe are nice though require some more Ki management, especially on high stance. Also the dexterity scaling on Tonfas is utter shit so you could probably focus on the other 2 stats and Strength (for the Odachi) instead.
