Just finished up riding 3500 miles on two short trips I took and and alls I can say is "the Ohlins are indeed a very nice ride". A friend of mine rode my bike to the store, he came back raving about the ride being so well planted to the rode.

I went with Ohlins 159 in the rear for two up and it made a big improvement with the heavy duty springs. In terms of the spring rate, it may have been a bit of a trade off for solo. Wife liked over stock. Progressive springs up front are doing the job nicely. Share.IIRC, the Ohlins is a standard body and the spring is selected for your weight when you order the shock. Individual shops may elect to adjust the valving on the Ohlins but that is not a factory option. The Wilbers shock is built to order and so the valving can be adjusted during the factory assembly of the shock.If your priority is the slammed look and/or saving 2 minutes taking the bags off to adjust the shocks, then air ride is for you. The ride with the 440 was better than stock until they went bad and the 444 is at least as good, maybe better. In mean time I purchased a new 2015 FLHTCU Ultra Classic. The ride of the Ultra with factory air shocks is quite a bit better than the Custom with Progressive shocks. A couple of weeks ago I bought a pair of 13" Ohlins HD 159 shocks.

Before anyone makes the comment I have already searched through the past threads in this subject but most everything is old. Arnott has moved to Fox shocks but no threads speak about those. I have been using Legends for years now. This is my 5th bike with legends. I’ve had every setup they have from a soortster all the way to ultra classic and every bike in between. We’ve tried all the suspensions set ups with cartridges in the front and revos in the rear. We tried the air and the arcs. They have all been fantastic.

The delta between the Legends and the Ohlins probably isn't all that great that you would notice the difference without riding on the edge of their capabilities.
