The truck was also in limp mode only able to go about 35. Still was able to go into gear but hit real hard when changing the selector. Any ideas on what might be the issue would be greatly appreciated.

You might need a large socket to get the axle nut off, but otherwise, it is mostly just normal tolls. Just make sure you use quality hubs such as Moog or Timken. Don't take the cheap route here.
