Clean around the outside of your carburetor bowl before removing the screw from the bottom of the bowl. Have a rag available to catch any remaining gas in the bowl. When you remove the bowl, be careful not to damage the o-ring that sits between the bowl and the carburetor. This o-ring looks like a rubber band.

If you still have the original carb I'd clean that one really well, get a kit for it and re-install it. A carb should last a lifetime if you put a new kit in it. Good luck! ...
