I've been trying to get a replacement for a Greater Sabretooth that I lost, and between my current attempts and the initial ones, I've tamed around 12 sabretooths using Shadespiced Fatty Meat, which according to the wiki, has a 30% chance of giving a Greater Sabretooth. There are certain foods that can be given to pets to increase your chance. Further, in a certain dungeon you can get a special flower to also increase the chance for a greater pet.
