I would not consider the 45/70 a practical hunting rifle for Africa it's just an odd caliber for longer shots, and looses power quickly beyond 100 yards. I would much prefer a simple bolt rifle in the 416 caliber.

Otherwise, the 44 mag or 45 Colt are very close to each other, especially in a carbine.
